PRESS and accomplishments
Chef Ted Torres has over twenty years of culinary experience in Philadelphia. Below are some highlights and press coverage from his journey since then.
Philly Art & Food 2016'S Savory Impact Champion Award
Chef Ted Torres competed against area chefs during the Philly Art & Food 2016 Cooks Who Care event. The event this year was to benefit Taller Puertorriqueño, Pennsylvania’s largest Latino arts organization, which uses art to promote development within the community. Over a dozen chefs presented their Latino artist-inspired dishes, and Chef Ted was awarded the Savory Impact Champion Award for his presentation. Chef Ted presented a baked handmade plantain cone filled with pernil (tender roasted pork in Latin flavors) and topped with shredded manchego cheese, chopped pickled jalapeños, cilantro microgreens and an edible sample of a mask created by a New York based Latino artist.
Chef Ted Torres competed against three other chefs as a contestant of the Food Network show, Chef Wanted with Anne Burrell. He succeeded and was offered a position as the Executive Chef at Victor's Cafe in New York City, but ultimately declined the position to stay in Philadelphia and pursue his goal of opening his own business, now Coa Catering.
