PRESS and accomplishments
Chef Ted Torres has over twenty years of culinary experience in Philadelphia. Below are some highlights and press coverage from his journey since then.
Philly Art & Food 2016'S Savory Impact Champion Award
In the Philly Art & Food 2016 Cooks Who Care event, Chef Ted Torres competed against area chefs to create a Latino artist-inspired dish. Chef Ted presented an edible sample of a mask created by a New York based Latino artist. The savory design was created from a baked handmade plantain cone filled with pernil (tender roasted pork in Latin herbs + seasonings) and topped with shredded manchego cheese, chopped pickled jalapeños, cilantro microgreens. Over a dozen chefs presented their Latino artist-inspired dishes, and Chef Ted was awarded the Savory Impact Champion Award for his presentation. The event this year was to benefit Taller Puertorriqueño, Pennsylvania’s largest Latino arts organization, which uses art to promote development within the community.
Chef Ted Torres competed against three other chefs as a contestant of the Food Network show Chef Wanted with Anne Burrell.
He succeeded and was offered an Executive Chef position at Victor's Cafe in New York City, but ultimately declined to pursue his goal of opening a catering company, now known as Coa Catering.
